I wasn't planning on writing a review about Jan Marini Age Intervention Retinol Plus until I used it for at least 3-6 months, but after using it for four weeks I feel the need to talk about the results I've witnessed so far. I am only 33 years old and embarrassed to admit that I already had moderate to deep wrinkles on my forehead, around my eyes, and also on the sides my mouth. Needless to say, I never really got into a skin care routine and all of my bad habits were catching up to me (never wearing sunscreen at the beach (or anywhere else for that matter), using tanning beds a little too frequently as a teenager, smoking, poor diet, never moisturizing, etc). I naturally have dry skin and a fair complexion. Frantic to diminish any and all signs of aging, I discovered that retinol is a vitamin A derivative that unclogs pores, boosts collagen to reduce fine lines, and speeds cell turnover to even out discoloration and smooth the skin.Unsure as to which product containing retinol to use, I turned to Paula Begoun's online review (aka the "Cosmetic Cop" who has been on hundreds of appearances on national and international television including the Dr. Oz Show, The View and ABC to name a few): "Age Intervention Retinol Plus is among the better moisturizers with retinol. The somewhat creamy lotion formula is best for normal to dry skin and the opaque pump bottle packaging will work beautifully to keep the retinol stable during use. What makes this such a good option is that it's not just a one-note product. Retinol is included, yes, but so are antioxidants, non-fragrant safflower oil (a good source of repairing fatty acids for skin), and some peptides, each of which has theoretical cell-communicating ability. Because the formula is fragrance-free, it's suitable for sensitive skin, too, assuming you know that your skin can tolerate retinol." Key ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid (works to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while hydrating), Peptides (firm and boost collagen levels), and Green Tea (cools and protects against free-radical damage). This product isn't heavy or greasy and doesn't leave a shine to my face. Although my wrinkles haven't completely disappeared (and I didn't expect them to after only four weeks of use) I can definitely tell a difference. The deep lines on my face have smoothed out to where I can't feel them anymore. When I look in the mirror I have to move up close in order to see fine lines, whereas before I could see them clearly from a distance. My skin has a healthy glow to it that it never had before. I no longer have dark circles under my eyes and my pores are smaller now... I'm confident that with time I will see even more of a difference. The price through Amazon is relatively fair ($35) compared to other stores selling it for $70+.
