I bought this for my grandson whose father was raised in the US but his parents were raised in India. I was excited to read it myself. I was born and raised as a WASP but have been a practicing Hindu for the last several years. I have a wonderful teacher in India, Paramahamsa Nithyananda, whose teachings are magnificent. However, I miss some of the references because I wasn't raised with these stories. So this is perfect for me and others who love the beautiful HIndu teachings but weren't raised with the stories.It is also perfect for kids as an introduction to Hinduism and its beautiful teachings.
