I am a former classroom teacher who now tutors students in English and writing. I purchased this book after having borrowed another teacher's copy. It is an excellent, step-by-step method of teaching expository writing, with teacher instruction pages and student practice activities. It is aimed at grades 4-8, and I particularly like that the student practice activities are clearly marked as to level of difficulty. These are not fill-in-the-blank activities; they are thought provoking and encourage creativity in students as well as emphasizing the necessary structure of an expository essay. One of my young pupils who has struggled academically told me that his classroom teacher praised his writing and had him read his essay to the class. It did him (and me) a world of good.
