Whole Body Vibration is good for so many ailments. After I ordered this board, I went online and did some research. Wow! The Mayo Clinic website states: "Advocates say that as little as 15 minutes a day of whole-body vibration three times a week may aid weight loss, burn fat, improve flexibility, enhance blood flow, reduce muscle soreness after exercise, build strength and decrease the stress hormone cortisol."This board gives me a great 10 to 30 minute vibration workout. It feels solid and very well made. I studied the exercises in the booklet (included with board). I also watched some videos on YouTube. I have easily incorporated this Vibration Plate by WAVER into my exercise routine. This is a great Whole Body Vibration Fitness Platform for beginners. The price is not astronomical and it works really well. It's fun!A family member recently had knee replacement surgery and I found a scientific study that proved WBV reduces inflammation and strengthens the knee joint. This would have been a 5-star review; however, the remote control included with my board does not work. Luckily, the board can be turned on and programed using the digital window attached to the base. Other than the non-working remote, I am very pleased with this WBV board. So my husband and I have both been using this and it is so cool. What is crazy is that you can actually tell the next day that you "worked out" a little bit. I got this because we are both getting older and circulation, bone density and loss of muscle mass over time are what we are most concerned with, so this is perfect for us. Whole body vibration has been shown to impact all three of those areas as well as reduce pain after workouts from lactic acid in the muscles, lower blood pressure and lower total cortisol. I am not expecting a total body makeover and to drop 4 dress sizes because I stood on a vibrating platform, but I can tell that I have improved circulation by the reduced swelling in my extremities, and I have not been crazy sore after light weight training that we have recently started. Overall, I am super impressed and happy with this.I have long wanted to teach a couple of my household members balance. I have excellent balance and am awed that we come from the same family sometimes. They also want this, so I'm not forcing anything on them. I have long waited to find something to help with that. Now, this doesn't have much of an incline, but it does have one. And, squats are a great way to learn balance. Squats + this machine make it a challenge, but doable. Also, being able to balance on one foot during vibration is helpful. Before I go any further, I should mention that there are a few negatives which caused me to knock a star off. The obviously photoshopped image of the woman standing on the unit makes it look huge. It is not. Read the dimensions. The included elastic bands are so tiny that they are ridiculous to try and use while standing on the board. They also feel flimsy. I would try to get your own to use. But instead of coming from the front, as expected, they can only be used at the sides, which is awkward placement. The control panel comes loose with vibration. We have to push it back down after every use.It doesn't have a way to create your own programs. This would have made it almost perfect. It doesn't have any countdown warnings before switching modes. You don't want to keep looking down to find out when your time is up during a level. Since you hold onto the remote, if they put an LCD window there to show what is on the panel, it would make it marginally better. Some levels don't feel like they have any difference, but maybe that's an imperceptible thing. They don't do a warm up and cool down, that abrupt ending is very jarring. So, to the fun parts...We ran through all the programs and I was going to give you a breakdown of each one. But, since I'm in a hurry right now, a synopsis will have to do.Level 1 is mild, in comparison to the other three. It starts at level 2 and increases steadily until after the half-point. The levels change every 1 to 1-1/2 minutes. They jump about 10 levels each time. And, on the way back down, it doesn't go back down to level 2. It stops abruptly as the clock counts down to zero on level 10.That abrupt stop is the same on all levels, but it doesn't always go back down to 10. Also the same on levels 2-4 is the fact that it moves higher up the levels.Level 2 is harder than 3, in my opinion.Level 4 is the most ridiculous. Not that it's not fun, but it randomizes the levels in such a way that you can go from 10 to 60 to 40 to 80. Those aren't the actual order of levels given, just an example. It stops abruptly on a higher level, which I don't like. They all last only 10 minutes. You can use the unit without the programs and sort of set your own program, but you can't save it, as previously mentioned. The remote has the forward and backwards buttons switched for the music playback. Two buttons have the same image depicted, so it's up to you to intuit which one means which. Also, the top half of the remote controls the unit. The bottom half controls the music. DO NOT GET THEM MIXED UP. It's easy to do until you get used to it. The images are the same on top and bottom. What's nice about the unit is that, while it's still in powered on at the switch, but the unit is turned off, you can still use it as a bluetooth device to play music. So, you can use it without the vibration to do steps and planks, etc. and still have your playlist going without extra devices.Oh...On level 4, there is a level at which you cannot speak normally. Make sure you get it on video for your friends and family. It's just hilarious.I used a walker to position over the unit and use as handlebars. It helps those without balance and those who want to get deeper squats. If you do this, make sure the walker has legs wide enough to fit without hitting the unit. The cord, if not plugged in far enough away, loose, hits the unit and makes an annoying noise until you rectify it. It should never be able to be near enough to do that.Nothing I've complained about makes me like this unit less. I love it. Multiple members of the household agree that it relieved back pain. That, in itself, is a great reason to have it.I loved how I could feel my body burn in places I didn't know I had muscles. I worked up quite a sweat in 10 minutes on levels 2 and 4, not so much on 1 and 3I have to go. I will try to come back and write up the exact program details we recorded later. In the meantime...Bottom line: Would I order again? Yes. Would I gift? Yes, this is a compact piece of equipment that one can easily find room for. I wish it allowed you to store it on its side, though, but no biggie.
