Description

A lighter, more nimble stability shoe has arrived with the Guide 7 running shoe from Saucony. Saucony is among the most respected names in running shoes. We offer a wide range of running and walking shoes, each with the Saucony trademark fit, feel and performance. We've spent years studying the biomechanics of top athletes. Our goal? To develop creatively engineered systems that maximize your performance in your specific activity, allowing you to focus on the activity instead of the equipment. From our studies have come many innovative Saucony concepts. Advanced technologies-like Grid, the first sole-based stability and cushioning system--provide an advantage to athletes of all types.

As background to my review, I'm a 70-year old male who has been running for ~ 55 years. I've run in two marathons but now only put in five miles per day so I have a reasonable experience base. I also have flat feet and achy knees. As for the product, they were tight in the toes. I normally wear a 9B (narrow) shoe but ordered a 9 Medium. Since I only put in the five daily miles, I opted to keep them, but if I were still into longer runs or 10K and above competitions, I would have returned them and gone a half-size larger. If I were to order them again, I would go for 9-1/2. Despite the tightness, I like the shoes: they're light weight, easy on my knees and feel good on the run, providing pretty solid support. They seem to be durable but I'll edit and update this review should they show unusual or early excessive wear. I'm happy with these for my present usage.UPDATE: As promised, I'm updating this review with a comment on the wear. I've had very many shoes over the years but none have worn as badly nor as quickly as these. Since April 2017, I've put about 5 mi/day on these for a total of less than 850 miles and they're essentially worn out, especially the right one. I recognize that my particular running style is the primary cause of wear, but as I said, I've never had a pair of shoes reach the end of its useful life so quickly. Just something else to consider in making your choice.
