I highly recommend this book to every AP/CP resident/fellow in training and well as attending surgical pathologists. The updated version includes a section dedicated to noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP). This section provides excellent information and images on this, at times, confusing entity which was just recently included in the 2017 WHO. The entire text is well-written, comprehensive and easy to follow. The updated chapters include a separate section dedicated to the staging of thyroid cancer as well as the principles of reporting thyroid cytopathology specimens. There also have been numerous updates to both the molecular testing of thyroid and FNA samples. Each chapter includes the pathogenesis and molecular genetics of each diagnosis as well as excellent images of the clinical findings, gross features, and microscopic features. This text can be utilized by trainees at all levels. The chapters on gross examination of the thyroid, normal thyroid anatomy/histology and thyroid physiology are essential for first and second year trainees. The other chapters include all the information upper level trainees need to know about thyroid pathology including board relevant study materials. Overall this text serves as my go-to reference when it comes to everything thyroid.
