As it turns out, even though I thought I wanted a gray one, the tan rug I received works really well in my room, accenting my honey-colored wood floors. The hide is in excellent condition, the hair is shiny and soft (again much improved from the other manufacturer).Make sure when considering this rug that you look at all the pictures online by Linon. I received one close to one of three images I saw, but not the main one, which is primarily gray. Because this is the second rug I ordered (I returned one from a different seller and different manufacturer, due to "repaired" flaws/holes and a "repaired" brand on the hide), I was more aware that unless you go in person and pick it out, you are going to have to expect a lot of variation in color.It comes folded in a box, and right now I see that the fold lines are already softening, so I am not concerned about that.The listing and the materials accompanying the rug suggest a rug pad. There is no backing, so I can see how that would extend the life of the rug. The rug has been treated with something, which gives off a smell early on, but has dissipated (I usually have my windows open which may have made a difference vs. someone trying to air it out in a closed room). The skin on the back is also tinted blue.I am very pleased with my purchase.
