Here are two simple hints for buying fly line: First, buy only Cortland line. Second, step up one size for better casting performance, for example if the rod is rated for a 3 weight line, buy a 4 weight line. It just works better. Weight forward, of course. I will buy Cortland fly line from now on. Cortland fly lines casts like a dream. I'm so glad I bought this line.
