This is one of my favorite books of art instruction (and I've bought a fair few over the years). If you are a beginner interested in learning to do abstract art, or just wanting to learn to draw more freely and expressively, this is a great book for that. More experienced artists might find it doesn't cover any new ground, but that doing the exercises in the book could be useful anyway. It has chapters that clearly explain the context for different types of abstract drawing, with examples of finished works by well known artists as well as people who have taken part in Steve Aimone's workshops, so you can see a range of what is possible. These are accompanied by exercises that help you explore different kinds of abstract drawing, and each chapter builds on the one before. It's all presented in an accessible and encouraging style. Highly recommended.
