I love Roald Dahl, his books were my favorite when I was a kid. His books speak to kids and adults of all ages, and the imagination his books inspire in children is unparalleled. I was so excited to buy this box set for my 8 year old son who is in second grade. He is a huge reader, but was having a hard time connecting to books that were on a more mature level than Captain Underpants, Stink, etc. I knew he would love these and I am so happy to say I was right! These books are timeless. He devours them, laughs out loud, asks insightful questions about the characters and subtext. This is the best kind of book for a growing child, imaginative, exciting, fun, wacky, sweet, with a clear moral message that isn't preachy or creepy. Have started to reread all of these books so that I can discuss them with my son, and we are having the best time. This is one of the best decisions I ever made in terms of buying reading material for my son. He likes having them all together in the box, they look great as well. Yay!
